The Agnes Chardonnay '24

Agnes Floyd was known for being the first woman in Cape Town to have a driver’s license. She is remembered with this wine by her great-grandsons, great winemakers Peter-Allan and Andrew Finlayson.

Multiple vineyards across Hemel-en-Aarde and the Overberg compose this sentimental story of resilience and cool-climate Chardonnay with minimal-intervention winemaking as its narrator. Whole bunches are gently pressed straight from harvest. After settling, the juice ferments naturally in French oak barrels and large foudres where it matures for 9 months before being bottled.

In the glass, aromas of seashells and flint are the foreword to a mouth-coating palate of Granny Smith apples and shortbread. In the heart, The Agnes is a Chardonnay of strength and poise that honours where it comes from and who it’s named for.
